It may be a sign of stressed mind, but in meantime, to rule out any physical or pathological disease, kindly do blood test for calcium, potassium and drink water plenty. The simple thing you should do is to try to put tongue in between the teeth when clinching . Everytime you try to put the tongue, brain will consiously allow your jaw to open and protect the tongue. Please take the advice seriously but don’t bite your tongue.

It’s really an unconscious habit. I suspect mine came about when I had braces and they tightened them. Clenching back then helped with the discomfort. I use it now to practice mindfulness. I try to catch myself doing it and bring my awareness to it and try to relax my jaw. It’s really worth a visit to the dentist. There may be things that a dentist can correct. Either way, clenching causes problems with your teeth and regular checkups by your dentist are the only ways to catch the problems it creates.
You can get bite guards but they are primarily designed for night time use. I could never effectively wear mine during the day.
