Some stories say they use them as a building material, as bricks for their houses and palaces. I don’t know whether that’s resourceful or just plain creepy. Some people say they take them away and polish them and give them, all fresh and gleaming, to a new baby who needs them. So, somewhere, there could be a baby with your lost teeth. Again, resourceful or creepy? I’m not sure. Quite common is the idea that the fairies take them to protect them. A lot of old magic uses a person’s teeth or hair as part of the spell. By taking the teeth away, the fairies can keep them safe and make sure that child is never cursed. I would assume, in that scenario, that they have huge vaults of teeth somewhere, great buildings full of them, out of harm’s way.
I think that the tooth fairy collects baby teeth and recycles them to make dentures for people who don’t have teeth. The money the fairy leaves you under the pillow should be used to buy toothpaste and a toothbrush so you won’t lose anymore teeth when you get old. That way you won’t need dentures that the tooth fairy has made from baby teeth. Dentures from baby teeth would look weird on old people because the little teeth never got a chance to grow up.
