Maybe 14–16, it depends on the kid. I have daughters not sons. If I had a son I would gauge that on how well they are doing in school first and foremost. Followed by if the boy has a good grasp on respect and boundaries. Then each situation would be individual. Mini dates at home first so I can get to know the girl a little too. And watch for any red flags such as do the girls parents know where she is, etc. Under 16 would probably only get to bring a girl to the house, meet at park, take her along when we do things as a family. Primarily because he can’t drive anyway.
I will give my children their freedom so that will know whatever they are doing. If anytime I feel someone is toxic to them Im going to be really careful and slowly make them leave that person without affecting any of them. I know this is a bit crazy but really, if you keep restrictions, there is more chance for your kids to hide things from you and they suffer alone and we will never know.
