  1. I can totally relate to this as I had to go through this when I was a child. My parents were abusing each other verbally and sometimes physically. I was the mediator and confidante for each of their respective problems. So when problems hit the fan, i took it upon myself to try to solve it. Logistically and finance wise, when my father died abruptly when I was adolescent, I had to shoulder alot of responsibilities like managing real estate and people who were not emotionally mature.

  2. I don’t know if this is parentification, but I played the role of a mediator between my abusive dad, my mom and my brother. Then, later between my mom and brother as mom could be verbally abusive towards him. I was also her emotional support. She would tell me about her counseling session after the divorce and go off about how she was such a good parent and She was improving so much by going to counseling. At the same time I was always in the middle when she had fights with my dad and they often badmouthed each-other to me and expected me to take sides.
