Many people tend to see starvation as a form of loosing weight, but starving yourself causes your body to become more careful about the way it handles calories. It slows metabolism and stores more surplus calories when food consumption returns to normal levels, which is why starvation diets always ultimately leave the dieter even heavier than when they started.
I have issues with eating. I never considered it to be self-harm until recently, but it is. I feel hatred for myself for being hungry. I have such a hard time keeping food in the house. I think a lot of my nightmares are caused by low blood sugar and being starving in my sleep but still I don’t eat. I am painfully hungry all the time. But the thought of food grosses me out. Ironically, I am obese. The inability to think because I am hungry feels like dissociation.
