This is an old notion that says that using mobile phone while charging is harmful. This bug was rectified and upgraded in cellphones about a couple of years back. Also, Using your phone when its charging is not bad for the battery, but it will take device a longer time to charge.
Using the phone for intensive tasks such as gaming causes the phone to heat up. While charging, the phone gets heated up due to the resistance offered to current. Now there is nothing more harmful for a lithium ion battery than heating. So, when the heat from charging and that from usage combine, they make the battery excessively hot which shortens it’s life. Therefore you shouldn’t use the phone when charging.
