Xeroderma pigmentosum. It’s a genetic disorder where the skin is unable to repair any DNA damage from UV rays, leading to severe sunburns in minutes, eye damage, and skin cancer. People with the disease basically have to be completely covered from head to toe at all times in daylight, including face shields, and stay in rooms that have UV film over all the windows and no fluorescent lightbulbs.
Mitochondrial disease. My cousin has it, and so little is known about it that you can only really treat the symptoms from what I know. She had 9 surgeries by the time she turned 18, has massive scars on her legs, and has one glass eye and the other is mostly blind. Absolutely wild medical history, no idea what really goes on with her medically. I would share more but I dont see her very often so I dont know all that much.
