If you put quotations around a word Google will only show results that include that word. That’s the one I use the most. For example, today I was googling stainless steel ring care but all the results were for general ring care, so I added quotations so I only got results that mentioned stainless steel. The quality of the results will match the quality of your query.
There’s regular Google search, and there are several specialized search tools, and chances are high that one of those might be more helpful for some of the searches you need to do. Also, if you find yourself frustrated by the results you’re getting, switch to Verbatim search. It will actually search for exactly what you enter in as your query, and not something close that Google thinks you really wanted to search for.
