Is it true that when you forgive someone of wrongs done to you, but you don’t forget, does that mean you didn’t truly forgive them? Can you forgive without forgetting?

  1. It is totally impossible to forgive and forget totally. You may forgive the person but you’re constantly reminded of how they treated you every now and then, this doesn’t have to make you treat them badly or differently but it serves as a constant reminder of what that person dis to you. You see, I believe you can totally forgive a person but may not be able to totally forget what they did to you even if you try to forget.

  2. I forgive people but I don’t ever forget that which they did to me. I don’t think that means I didn’t fully forgive them. It’s the same way I can totally forgive someone and never want to talk to them again, it simply means I’m choosing peace over whatever damage they may have in store for me in the future. Not choosing to forget a wrong done to me by someone serves as a reminder, to always let me know what to expect and how to avoid such occurrences in the future. Once I forgive someone, yes I’ve forgiven them totally but that doesn’t mean I’ll forget or erase what they did. I hope this serves as a little explanation to your question.
