What do you know casual racism is and what formal racism is?
Casual racism is the best form of racism it is so in grained that the racist is largely unconscious of it It is a given an accepted conceit if you like. Most people are casual racists through years of experience and indeed racism is inherent in most human beings. Unlike casual racism, formal racists are very much aware of what they’re doing and how their actions translate to racism and hurt others. Formal racism is not subtle.
Causal racism is subtle forms of racism, everyday racism that often go unnoticed, of course except for the person feeling the impact of them. Casual racism are often left unattended to because it believed it doesn’t have any impact. This racism can include speech and behaviours that treat cultural differences – such as forms of dress, cultural practices, physical features or accents – as problematic, manifesting in disapproving glances, exclusionary body language, and marginalising people’s experiences as invalid.
