While ADHD may present challenges, it is not an excuse for reckless behavior, immaturity, and lack of self control in parents.Keep in mind that self control is something that everybody struggles with. Biblically speaking, everyone is imperfect and struggles with sin, including self control.
You will not be a bad parent or have bad parenting style because of your ADHD. It can even make you a better parent, because of your knowledge and sensitivity to others, including your children, who have difficulties. I’ve worked for many years with students who have attention deficit disorder, sometimes with the hyperactivity component and sometimes without. Plus, this disorder is also in some of my family members. Just know that therapy and, sometimes, medication are valuable to help control your symptoms. Don’t worry, just live your life and let your children know that they are loved no matter what difficulties they have in life.
