The reason it was done is that historically tequila was usually a very cheap, poorly made, bad tasting spirit, and you drank it to get drunk, not for flavor. Don’t think you should ask any serious questions on the first date; questions like former lovers, salary, savings or cost of housing, poliical affiliation, etc. Think it’s safer to stay with general questions like movies, books, TV shows. If there are other dates, you could go deeper, but try not to ask questions that are too personal, like “have you ever been to prison?” Of course, if he says yes, there will probably not be a second date.
Do tell him things about yourself, but also, don’t get too personal. Hearing that your periods are very heavy is something he really doesn’t have to know yet, or ever! Keep it light and fun, unless you don’t want to see him again.

Use your hand to hold your eyelids open and rinse under a cool tap. If you had a saline solution it would be better, but I imagine you don’t pack a big bottle of that at home.
