A dirty air filter blocks air from reaching your indoor AC unit. If your AC isn’t supplied with enough air, it will struggle to cool your home properly. Your air filter traps dust and debris in the air so that the inner workings of your AC system stays clean. But when you leave your air filter in for too long, it gets clogged full of dirt and becomes worse than useless—it can do real damage to your AC.
The following are the likely reasons why your AC is blowing hot air;
1. Low refrigerant levels.
2. Heat exchange is impossible without freon; you might have a leak in refrigerant lines.
3. Loss of compression by of AC compressor.
4. Clogged air filters and clogged expansion valve (insufficient refrigerant expansion).
5. Power issue— blown fuse or tripped amp breaker.
