This might be a newsflash to a lot of people given the fact that English is widely spoken in the US, but it is never their Official language. Why is this so?

I suppose that would be because the US is a base for lots of immigrants from several countries. The US is place where you find different tribes, cultures, skin colour and all. English is largely spoken in the US that one would think it is the official language but making it the official language might make immigrants have a feel of not belonging.

This is because US is a multilingual nation, even though this didn’t stop many other nations to declare English as their official language. Since the U.S. has no official language, neighborhoods and areas where other languages are largely spoken, such as Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese, can receive government materials, announcements, etc., in their language. Having no official language is convenient and liberating. It makes the country work better for everyone.
