Once my PC isn’t connect to a power source, the battery drains so fast. I don’t know why the battery life is so poor.

It is expected if your computer is old, the battery will loose its potential to store power. And you have to replace it. Try to stop programs which are not in use and do not play high end games when laptop is not plugged in. Check your applications and uninstall all unwanted applications. Most applications drain a lot of battery even if they are not running. Next check battery drain in BIOS. Press “Del” key or “F2” as per your computer. Leave your computer on inside BIOS. Check if BIOS is draining similar amount of battery compared to Windows. If yes, then the battery is faulty, time to buy a new one. If the battery lasts long in BIOS, then reinstall Windows and your issue should be resolved.

The battery life of your PC is dependent on how long you’ve had the PC. If it’s kind of still new, could be a manufacturing flaw. If you’ve had it for a while, it might be from keeping it plugged in all the time. That’s what happened with mine. At one point it would stay charged down to 70% then shut off. Now it can charge all the way to 100%, but if I unplug it, it dies instantly. I guess the battery cells die out over time, so it can’t hold as much charge, and the laptop might think it’s still charging completely. In any case, hopefully your warranty isn’t up so you can get an ideally free replacement, at least a discounted price, from the manufacturer.
