We live in a world that has progressed enough to not blame a woman for being harmed by her partner, but it is still too conservative to apply it to situations where men are the victims (assuming you’re a man. Whatever gender you are, please, please, do not forgive her… Leave her, or prepare to live next time she hits you. Focus on keeping yourself safe.

Control, simply put, beating you gives her control. We all know about men beating up women, but the problem of domestic violence from women to men, yes women beating up men is still a subject swept under the carpet. The real damage of persistent violence against you is how it affects you as a person. If you’ve ever checked yourself, not said what you wanted to say, not done what you wanted to do because you wanted to avoid her hitting you, then you are severely affected as a person. You have probably rationalized it, but bottom line if you’ve changed something about yourself because of fear then her beatings are achieving the result she desires. That result is control, pure and simple, the reason why she is doing this to you, is control.
