One of the worst things about emotional trauma is that you find yourself constantly questioning yourself. You think, but was it really that bad? Am I just over-exaggerating something totally normal? But here’s the thing. People who haven’t been through a trauma don’t have these thoughts. They don’t question whether or not they’ve been traumatized through past events. The act of questioning whether it was traumatic or not says that whatever you’ve been through has definitely had an impact on you.
People who are exaggerating over feel justified. They won’t worry. Believing you’re probably exaggerating like, half the time, is a sign that something is probably actually wrong.
