Why do people eat boiled peanuts?

As much as I don’t want to be biased about this, I’ve never seen anyone ate boiled peanuts until I was in Africa for an outreach before the Covid outbreak. I was extremely shocked. How?

  1. I tried them in Texas many years ago from roadside venders. Myself and my fiancé found them unedible. It was probably comical the faces we made. Anyway I’m sure they’re not as bad as I remember them. I think it was the consistency that turned me off at least. Peanuts are not supposed to be wet and soggy.

  2. It’s mainly poor people’s food, it costs less than a dollar for a pound of peanuts. Peanuts are light, so you get a lot of peanuts for a dollar. So, for under a dollar, you can have a tastey snack that feeds a lot of people. As it turns out, boiling them is one of the best ways to make them. It’s super easy. Boil water, add salt and seasoning, add peanuts and wait 10-15 minutes.
