When I wake up my heart is racing really fast, what is the cause of this and how can I stop it?

Anxiety. Stress and anxiety trigger the release of stress hormones, which in turn increase your heart rate and blood pressure. The more anxious you feel, the more pronounced your symptoms can be. If you have depression or anxiety, or are under a lot of stress, you may wake up with a racing heart from time to time.
Many factors can cause a person to wake up with a racing heart, including diet, stress, sleep deprivation, and arrhythmia. Sometimes, upon waking, it may feel as though the heart is beating very fast or pounding in the chest. A person may also feel shaky or anxious when this happens.
