Do you think giving police tranquilizer guns instead of real bullet guns will reduce accidental and unnecessary killings?
Why can’t police be given tranquilizer guns so as to reduce unnecessary killings??

As good as this sounds, it may not be possible because to my understanding, there is no one size fits all approach to tranquilizing someone. The amount of a drug required to immobilize someone is going to vary based on the persons physical size and general health. If you give the same amount of a drug to a 100 lb female as you do to a 300 lb male it’s going to have widely disparate effects. Not to mention the fact that you know would have to train officers to use this and have a method to administer it. To say nothing of the liability the first time someone dies from an overdose. The Russians tried something similar to this during the theater takeover in Moscow 2002 where they attempted to use a chemical agent to knock out the terrorists and accidentally killed 140 of the hostages. While it would be nice if there were a ‘freeze-ray’ or some other paralytic agent that would be non-lethal the fact is that the best that can be hoped for is less-lethal, as even a punch can kill someone in the right, or wrong, circumstances.
Tranquilizers might help but they are slow, police will have to wait for them to take effect and stand back until he goes to sleep because if they shoot him time and time again they will just give the suspect an overdose, but still it would be less fatal than using a gun on suspects.
You know in the UK the police officers do not have any guns at all and they get along just fine with the public so why can’t we do what they did in England and just get rid of the guns so that all the people can have are hunting rifles and shotguns that are bolt action only. Police shooting suspects or choking them to death is like the police jumping on the back of a tiger. These police are ignorant, most of them are uneducated and when they are educated they is educated in the wrong things like criminology and things like that instead of psychology or psychiatry like they should be, as such, they are lesser individuals and are ill-equipped to handle these problems. Basically what I’m saying is the wisest thing to do is not to jump on the tigers back in the first place because eventually you have to get off and when you get off a tiger he’s going to turn around and kill you.
