I was told the major people in mafia got there through heredity. There should be a way people with no mafia hereditary can join.
First you have to be of Italian decent and know somebody that knows somebody that somebody. That life is all about connections. And also I may add that it is a very bad lifestyle, your best friend may be called upon to take care of you someday. You will always have to watch your back, watch what you say on the phone ect. The Feds will be breathing down your neck and you may have to kill or torture people. You will most likely leave that life in a coffin or in a swamp or marsh. So if that’s the type of life you want I say go ahead. Goodluck!
You’d have to be family or friends to even touch on that part of the world. Frankly, the various mafia don’t recruit from outside their families and communities. And the vast majority actively discourage their sons from getting involved, preferring them to get educations and become legitimate professionals nor businessmen. Many look down upon bosses who bring their kids into the business. Also, it’s kind of a shitty lifestyle. The days of the honor codes and loyalty are all but gone, most of the old-school groups have disappeared or been seriously weakened, and what’s left are often violent thugs, drug pushers–and addicts, and people who no longer care about harming civilians.
