There are many items in many budgets that are truly wastes of money. These are things that many people spend money on every day, even though there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good in every way.

I got a DUI last year in April. I never had any money problems because i live alone and i have almost a six figure salary. I spent money on all luxury items, restaurants, parties, beautiful and huge home but never thought twice about it. But I still regret the money that I wasted on DUI.
It happened after i got out of a club drunk with friends and decided to drive back home. Generally, my friend drives me back home because he never gets that drunk. But that night he got really drunk so i decided to drive back home. Got pulled over at 3:30 in the morning. It cost me around USD 3000 total including tickets, classes, tests etc. Not only that, it affected me emotionally. I was depressed for a week atleast. I got a device in my car for one year. I pay like 160USD every 2 months for that device. I was going to buy a new Chevy Camaro the next day but now I have to wait for 6 more months to buy it.
I wanted to get a knitting machine so badly. I thought I could whip up scarves and blankets fast. The fact I knew very little about hand knitting meant nothing to me. I saved the money and $150 later, I bought my knitting machine. I set it up on the dining room table. But the directions said they were using knitting terminology. So I had to figure out casting on the needles. Then I used the piece back and forth to knit. After 5 or 6 passes, my hands grew tired. It was really hard to use that thing. I had to read how to cast off. Then, I thought-I have a nice scarf. Um, it was lumpy, lopsided, and just ugly. I tried it a few times and saw I couldn’t do a thing with this machine on my own. I tried to get help, but no one owned a knitting machine (this was years before you tube and the Internet). I put it back in its box and put it away. I think it’s still packed in my storage space. I haven’t looked at it in years. It was the dumbest thing I threw my money away on.
