The JW group of Christians seem to have a whole lots of doctrines that are not observed by other Christians; such as celebrating Christmas, the birth of Christ. Why are they different?

A difference between Jehovah’s Witnesses and Protestant churches is that Protestant churches don’t claim to be God’s representative on earth. Protestants do not claim to be God’s channel of communication to mankind. Or to be the faithful and discreet slave. They do not claim to be dispensers of spiritual food from God at the proper time.
Jehovah’s Witnesses claim to be God’s official, approved interpreter of the Bible, “God’s organization, unlike Protestants who at the Reformation denied that there is such a thing. In principle, Protestants are allowed to read and interpret the Bible for themselves, unlike Jehovah’s Witlesses who are allowed no dissent nor variance from what the Governing Body of the Watch Tower organization tells them to believe. Jehovah’s Witlesses also do not like to call themselves a church. Churches are part of Christendom. The churches of Christendom will be destroyed at Armageddon which is coming soon. But Jehovah’s Witnesses will survive Armageddon, which is another difference.
The Jehovah Witnesses are told not to associate with people outside their organization, discuss politics or smoke tobacco. They can’t buy anything from a church store or garage sale and can’t donate items to a church run store. They can’t play competitive sports on a school team. They can’t become a cheerleader or go to the school prom or school dance. They can’t join the Boy Scouts or Girl scouts. Can’t join the Y.M.C.A. They can’t go to other Christian churches. Can’t be gay or lesbian. Can’t buy raffle tickets, gamble or play bingo. Can’t celebrate Christmas or mothers day. They can’t have viewpoints that contradict the organization’s beliefs or greet and talk with disfellowshipped persons. They can’t believe in miracles except those found in the Bible or believe in ghosts. No speaking in tongues or Laying on of hands. Can’t worship Jesus as God. Women can’t be elders or ministerial servants, divulge secret information to enemies and those not entitled to know. Other Christian religions are not prideful and they don’t avoid the world around them. They learn to walk in the world in hopes of helping those who are lost. We are suppose to be doing the work Jesus did on earth and he came to save the sinners. He didn’t shun and avoid them.
