What does the color of your tongue say about your health?
When a tongue is unhealthy. One of the first noticeable symptoms of an unhealthy tongue is a significant change in color from the normal pink shade you’re used to seeing. Other signs of concern can include pain when eating, drinking, and swallowing, as well as new lumps and bumps.
Our tongue says a lot about our health. At times you will see dark spots, white patches, lumps, pain around your tongue, and all these indicate your oral health. White patches on the tongue can indicate the presence of thrush and yeast overgrowth. A Black and hairy tongue can be a sign of poor oral hygiene or diabetes. Although, it easily gets away when you brush your tongue. Generally, this occurs when small bumps turn into the longest stands, where food and bacteria get caught. However, this may also occur to the people infected with viruses. Red tongue can also be a signal of sickness. Painful bumps on the tongue can appear on the tip and side of your tongue due to a virus infection. However, if your bump doesn’t go away then let your doctor know about it. Brush your tongue to clear the bacteria or consult it with your doctor as they can treat it well.
