Well Netflix is all about promoting science , technology and they want society to look on the serious issues more prominently hence they focus on the specific genres such as teenage drama and problems, sex education, tech education, LGBTQ community etc.
Netflix definitely has a model they use when it comes to putting contents on their platform. They strike deal with producers of a movie or series, they put it on their platform, then they either let the deal die down or try to extend it, depending on viewer count. It’s the simplified process for not-Netflix-made content. Netflix can decide to remove a content from their platform if it’s not doing numbers as it should. Or the owners may simply pay money to the platform to extend the viewing period.
