The thing that shouldn’t be romanticized in my opinion, being a woman, is love and marriage and romance itself. I know things are changing for the better however, men are still fed the ideals of a perfect woman. The one they bring home to mom and dad. This gives women the wrong idea that a man is supposed to do things that support a woman’s literal life. Protection, shelter, food. It gives men the idea they are solely responsible for these things. It may seem like the world is moving on but I know many people are disappointed when they find out that they are not entitled to the things they expected from their partner.
We make a much bigger deal of sex than it should be. Everything revolves around sex and sexuality. There was a time when sex was a very personal thing, and very few people ever talked about it. Kids are getting involved in sexual activities younger and younger, and that’s extremely disturbing. Parents are okay that their kids are sexually active rather than teaching them how dangerous sex actually is for their ages, nor are parents teaching them to respect themselves. They are also buying their kids inappropriate and sexually revealing clothing. Sex is everywhere, and it is no longer a very personal matter. It is now necessary to discuss your sex life with everyone on the planet.
