Houses and rent are two things a lot of people do not put into serious consideration when they are moving to a big or bigger city. Housing and rent are both outrageously expensive in the city. You will be amazed at the amount you rent apartments in big cities, it is crazy expensive. I was not prepared for how expensive housing was. Where I was coming from I was paying 500 dollars a month for a two bedroom apartment and it was a decent size but times three of that amount won’t even get me anything decent in this new place. Also, life in the city is fast-paced and always on the go. I feel like I never slowed down when we lived in the city. It was way too fast pace for me. It is literally go, go, go. You hurry up to wait in traffic. Sadly it is the truth. I love the convenience of everything but I hate the busy life.

The scariest part about moving to a new city is leaving all of your friendships behind. Suddenly, I had nobody to hit up happy hour with, or a go-to shopping buddy. I called my long-distance friends quite frequently, but it didn’t quite feel the same as being together physically. I tried using meet-up websites, work events, and even friendship apps to form solid connections. I felt so discouraged when a friendship didn’t blossom, but I had to learn that this process would take time. Within a few months, I established strong friendships with my coworkers and it felt so good. Patience is key.
