The doctor recommended some steroids for my wife and I really hope that’s okay. Not like I doubt the doctor, but I hope you’d understand.

There are some steroids that are specially prescribed for pregnant women especially when they’re 30 weeks plus gone. Steroids such as corticosteroids can be prescribed when there is a perceived emergency delivery (immature delivery) or when there is going to be a Caesarian section done on the pregnant woman.
The steroid is commonly used to prevent complications in babies born before 34 weeks of pregnancy. A full-term pregnancy is considered to be 40 weeks. Also, babies born to mothers who received the steroid were much less likely to have severe respiratory complications shortly after birth, to require a long stay in the neonatal intensive care unit, or to need respiratory treatments.
