People are everywhere, you can never escape judgement, and no matter how hard you try, it’s never easy to stop seeking approval. No matter what anyone tells you, no one ever fully moves past it. Some are just better at internalizing and repressing it. Change the game. Focus solely on whether or not your living up to your own expectations. All of that energy you have focused on figuring others out, turn it in on itself. Sure, people will make you anxious, but use that anxiety as a tool. Then when the time comes when someone gives you a judgemental glare or sneaks in a snarky comment you can laugh at them. Nothing’s more futile and time waste than judging someone who’s focused on their own thing.
Caring about what others think of you is completely normal for some people. I’m very confident and I love social situations where I get to mingle and meet new people, and I care deeply about how I’m perceived. Best advice is fake it till you make it. Sometimes you’ll stumble on your words or say something awkward and yea it kinda sucks but if you laugh it off, act like you don’t care, or call yourself out when you say or do something silly, people typically go along with it. At the end of the day, people will always care to some extend what others think of them. People will always judge others as well no matter if it’s out loud or in their head.
