No one is going to recommend spending long minutes warming up. But there’s a huge difference when you warm up and when you don’t.The purpose of a warm-up is to increase blood flow, increase sore temperature which aids in the release of oxygen from hemoglobin, increasing nerve conduction velocity and neural activation, increase muscle glycogen breakdown and glycolysis, and decrease skeletal muscle viscosity.

Warm-up is absolutely necessary, especially when lifting. It increases the amount of synovial fluid in your joints, increases neuro-muscular activity, increases your heart-rate and blood flow, and warms up your muscles and connective tissue. Warming up helps to prevent injuries. Injuring yourself because you don’t want to warm up for a couple minutes is not worth it.
