Should I take care of my parents even though they didn’t take care of me?

It’s quite funny and sad at the same time to see my parents become this, they used to be all high and might and even at that, they neglected me. Now, I’m in a great position and I don’t know if I should treat them like they did me or I should take care of them. I mean, I’m not obligated right?

Chances are they did their best to take care of you from your infancy to your youth m. There is, I think, a more practical reason for taking care of your parent besides Karma and gratitude..If you yourself have children, you’d be setting a really good example and tradition for them to someday make the decision to help keep you comfortable in your golden days.

My parents sacrificed a lot for me over and over again. They always did it with unconditional love. If your relationship with your parents is extremely challenging, it does not entirely mean they should be shut out completely, there are options. They can live in senior retirement apartments or resident assistance centers. Another option if you have siblings, rotate care. It’s a challenging time but challenge is not necessarily a bad thing. There are rich blessings that come from assisting your parents.
