Should I get my gap tooth filled up?

  • 0

I’m so indifferent about having gap tooth, I happen to have one, probably that is why. My colleagues at work to seem to find it funny passing jokes at my gap tooth.

      Diastemas usually cause no complications to your dental health, but many people choose diastema closure for cosmetic purposes. If you have wished to close your open gap around your teeth, you may decide to opt for any of the following methods;
      Dental Braces — Most diastemas require a full set of dental braces and retainer therapy, as moving one tooth can affect the placement of the rest.
Removable Dental Braces — For less severe cases, a less invasive diastema treatment such as Invisalign may work.

      Cosmetic Dentistry — If a midline diastema is the only dental problem, veneers or dental bonding may be used to cover the space.
Missing Tooth Replacement — If a diastema is caused by a missing tooth, a dental bridge or dental implants may be used to correct the problem.
Dental Surgery — In the case where a large labial frenum is the cause of your diastema, dental surgery may be needed prior to orthodontic treatment. It may be necessary to perform a frenectomy to remove or loosens the tissue and prepare the space for diastema closure.

      Gap tooth can be filled in different ways;
      1. By having Orthodontic treatment. It is the best option . But it will take time about 4 months to 8 months and depending on the severity of the condition.
      2. Bridging the gap by composite resin . This is by far the cheapest and easiest way of closing the gap . Can be done in one sitting . But cons are you cannot cew any hard substance by those tooth after treatment.
      3. By placing veneers on the teeth . This provides better easthetics and less tooth cutting required but expensive than composite filling
      4. Bridging the gap by Crown placement is another way of filling the space but this one is chosen as the last resort as it may require extensive tooth preparation but it is long lasting.
