Is it ever okay for a lady to propose to a man she’s dating if she feels she’s ready to take the relationship to the next stage?

I have nothing against a woman who does but I don’t think a woman should. Since forever, a woman usually bears the lion’s share of the housework. When kids are in school teachers usually call the mother. If a kid is sick, the mother is called. If the kids and husband are wearing rumpled clothes, people look at the mother. The husband never gets blamed if the house is messy, people blame the wife for being unable to keep the household in order. So should a woman get down on one knee and ask a man for the honor of washing his socks, picking up his wet towels off the damn floor for the millionth time, for having then raising his children, for hearing how his mother makes the best meatloaf in the world? Should she ask him for the pleasure of making sure that the birthday and christmas cards are sent out each year? No. We women should know our worth and if we’ve picked a man to be the one we want ’til death do us part, then let the man ask a woman for the very great honor of being his wife and taking up all the responsibilities that come from being both a wife and a mother. We women traditionally honor our husbands by taking their last names as our own. The least he can do is ask us to honor him by marrying him. But then, I’m old fashioned and traditional like that.
I see no problem with it. But it’s usually better to hint about marriage to him first to see what his answers regarding it would be to not to get your hopes up just yet instead of a big let down with a fight about it later. Maybe in your hints he would ask you first instead. Hints like when watching a movie about married people in it and they are kissing and then asking your boyfriend if he would kiss you just like that if both of you were married for that many years.
