I wouldn’t consider plastic surgery, and I generally think less of people who do get it outside of some pretty obvious exceptions like, eyelids sagging to cover eyes, etc. If my supposed partner suggested it, I’d dump her. It communicates to me that I’m a fixer-upper, and that she only cares about me insofar as I can be molded to suit her ideal man image she has in her head. The only reason I would indulge that is if I were totally uncommitted to her in the first place, so that’d mean she’s gone. Easy come, easy go. Nobody needs that negativity in their life.
There’s been a normalization and an acceptance that it’s okay for a man to want to look good. It’s not taking anything away from his masculinity to say he wants to look good. The guys who have the biggest Instagram followings, they want to look good, and they do. It’s now common to see men taking advantage of grooming services — manicures, pedicures, waxing — procedures that were once considered feminine. The workplace is a competitive environment and more experienced men want to look as energetic and enthusiastic as they feel.
