Anyone of any age can be an organ donor, what mostly important is is the size and tissue compatibility. Although, young donors, of course, are often best for other kids: Some organs, such as livers and kidneys, can be used from adult donors. But other organs must be a specific size to be suitable for a child or adult recipient.
There is no age restriction when it comes to donating organs. However, a child cannot decide to donate his or her organ without the full consent of their parents and doctor’s report to ascertain that they will be fine after the organ donation. It’s all about the size and how compatible the organ is, it has nothing to do with age.
