If everyone was honest, the world would certainly be a better place for all. As much as some people try to be honest in their doings, it sometimes land them in trouble. Then, what is the essence of being honest if it gets me in trouble?

Yes, if your motives for being honest is to deliberately hurt another person. There are times when there is no need to tell a person something but some people use the excuse that they are justified in doing it by claiming that they are doing the right thing if its the truth but the truth is they are not doing it because its the right thing to do, they are doing it for the wrong reasons to inflict hurt and pain but have also lied about the reason too which is a double insult
Honest people suffer because they don’t have the innate ability to deflect a potential negative situation. They may learn through the years but will never master the art of telling white lies, to avoid conflict. Also, they will innocently say the wrong thing(the true thing) and not connect with a hint to shut their mouth, assuring one conflict after another. I’m guilty of this myself!
