You need to understand that one of the signs of depression is partaking in too many social activities, depressed people often do this just so people don’t notice what is going on with them. There are many people that do not know how to seek help, they do not like being vulnerable or people seeing them vulnerable. So, they try as much as possible to keep up with the lifestyle people already known them to live. Deep down, they are not enjoying the activities, but the thing is, it keeps them busy and occupied that moment, and that is enough for them.

You need to understand that when people are depressed, instead of forging to know and fight the root cause, they tend to just tackle it from the top. Many people do different things whenever they are depressed just a mask the depression. So if your friend claims to be depressed, but you see them getting involved in social activities, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are lying or that they’re not depressed. Getting involved in social activities could be their coping mechanism.
