how do you guys go about discussing pay raise to your employer at work? My workload has greatly increased unlike before.

First, increase or decrease in your workload has nothing to do with what your pay should be. If you think your pay should be raised cos your workload increased, then that’s a very weak reason and your employer May decided not to do the needful. They may as well reduce your workload and reduce your pay. If you think you’re due for a raise, then you must’ve been doing something great at work, your impact must’ve been felt at work, and not just about the workload you do.
Demonstrate how you you have increased in value for the company with specifics. Cite added responsibilities, noteworthy accomplishments and allude to industry rates. If you can’t explicitly say why you are worth more, then you aren’t going to be worth more. I’ve found also that looking around for jobs that pay what you’re looking for helps– even getting an interview. I personally prefer to get a higher offer then tell my boss that I really want to stay here, I just have to do what’s right for my family.
