Making the convo flow, just being yourself, of course dressing and smelling nice is expected, you can pay but you don’t have to (but you may also just want to chip in). Depends what you both like? It could just be eating good food. Talk about things you have interests in, don’t be so in-charge. I think the whole idea of date is to see if you can get along well with the other person without trying too hard. If it’s good, you shouldn’t have to bend over too much. Be engaging and have fun.
You honestly do not have to do much, just be yourself! A date is to find out how compatible you are by enjoying each others company. You impressed him already since he asked you out. If you both have a good time and some laughs, for sure you will have made a strong enough impression on him to ask you out on more dates. If its the right person, everything will feel quite natural. Don’t try to fake it and be someone or something you’re not, because it will come out later. And remember, your date is probably nervous about your first impression of them as well, so try to lighten the mood and make each other feel comfortable. If it doesn’t work out, that’s fine. He wasn’t for you.
