A pseudo-smart person just wants to impress and show off their smarts. He or she wants the world to know how clever he or she is. However, they don’t have the depth of knowledge to back up their comments.
A pseudo-smart person will often use confusing vocabulary to conceal their ignorance on a subject. Pseudo-smart persons will sometimes use the gray area of artistic expression to sound ‘deep;’ whereas in reality there may be no content to their work. Pseudo-smart persons are more concerned with appearances; real intellectuals are concerned with expressing themselves and the pursuit of knowledge.
Pseudo-intellectuals are people who behave like they know it all, look down upon others…and when you listen closely, you realize they like to show off and don’t really know substance or talk in detail. Intellectuals are respectful, are good listeners, invite others to conversation, they don’t belittle others, and take great joy when they see genuine interest for the other person to learn something new. The type of intellectuals I respect the most are ones who have a special skill of explaining very complicated ideas and terms to the common man; that’s a special, rare skill is one that I’m in awe of and we need more people like this!
