Press the “Call” button. This does two things: activates a microphone or camera in the elevator so that the building operators may see or hear your reaction. The second it does is for the trap-door floor opens up, plunging you to your doom. Don’t panic, don’t fuck around trying to break your way out of an elevator. You can’t climb out into the hatch, because people got themselves killed in the past just by doing that.
I got stuck for 2 hours and I was alone. Power went out and the emergency light came on. Pushed the emergency service call button only for an answering machine to pick up. As luck would have it, the fire alarm went off shortly after and I thought I was doomed to die in a fiery blaze as I frantically called 911. Turns out someone just burned some food while cooking. Those were really dark times.
