Seriously, some people just never get over it. Sadly. But therapy is great if you’re ready for it. People that say it doesn’t work go into it with that attitude of “it doesn’t work”, and of course they’re not going to change anything that way. It’s different for everyone, so you may want to give it a try and see where that leads you. Sending you lots of love 🫂
For me, I always knew something was wrong, always knew I had this obsessiveness over morbidity and abuse and trauma, but internalized the idea that I was seeking it all for attention. My trauma realization was more about peeling off the toxic layers of self-protection rather than actually realizing I had been severely hurt. Still feels crazy how I could have not known all the things I know now, regardless.
