If you wash your face so many times in a day, it is going to dry it out completely, especially in the winters. Our skin will be depleted of its natural oils. If you are in an environment that involves you to wash your skin so many times in a day, it best that you follow up with a delicate moisturiser, face oil or a serum. Any of these that will suit your skin. You will also need to use a facewash that is chemical free and contains natural oils that will not dry out the skin completely. Most natural face washes will have a bit of natural oils to nourish your skin.
I usually recommend to clean the face once a day or twice a day if you wear make up or engage in activities that make you feel you need to wash it. Some skincare experts will tell you to wash it more than you actually need so you can adhere to a so called skincare routine and of course, buy and consume more products. That is nonsense. Every time you clean your face you are disrupting the skin barrier. This is especially true if you use harsh detergents or hot water. In fact, the skin barrier is responsible for making sure water doesn’t evaporate from skin. It also acts as a protective shield against harmful microorganisms by producing antimicrobial peptides and proteins. On top of that, it regulates inflammation. When the skin barrier is healthy, your complexion appears smooth, clear, even-toned, and balanced.
