How many episodes do I need to publish to be a top podcaster?

A lot of people who start a podcast don’t go beyond an episode, some 5, some 10, then they quit. How many episodes will make my podcast a top choice?

  1. I would recommend at least 10. At the same time, 5 or more should give listeners a good idea of what your show is about. Based on your production process, it might be good to write an arc for your season. Giving your show a complete idea from start to finish helps people connect with it, and if they like it they will want more. Also from a making money standpoint, unless you have a big network to convert to listeners or some star power, you will be hard pressed to make money until you get between 50 and 70 episodes.   2. I think this will be a function of how successful the podcast creator is with building an audience. Exposure, and accessibility, targeting your people. How well you know your audience will be the determining factor. Your subject will also determine the frequency of episodes, podcasts take energy and content assembly to work, so how well you can gather new material and content elements to populate your podcast will determine the production schedule.
