It varies from person to person. So long as you are not randomly waking up in the middle of the night you’re fine. But pay attention to your body. I’d started having sleep issues and didn’t even really make the connection until my doctor pointed out how much coffee I was drinking during a physical exercise. I removed one cup and latest consumption at 3 pm and I have been sleeping way better. Something like 2 or 3 fairly strong cups a day for me, I feel okay about it and sleep alright.
I usually consume 2 to 3 cups. I also drink tea. So the total amount of caffeinated beverages I consume would be about 5 on an average day. However, if I’m tired or ill, the number would be one or zero. If I’ve slept badly for more than one night there’s no point in me having coffee as it will make me feel jittery and more tired in the long run. So on those days I might have one morning coffee, unless I’m sick, in which case I’ll just drink water, and then maybe a cup of green tea in the afternoon. I used to drink a lot of coffee when I was in my twenties. Although I’m older my energy levels are more consistent. That’s probably due to the fact I also take better care of myself in general, and am in better shape.
