It depends on your current circumstances. How old you are, are you still in school, do you both have a nice job, how long have you dated before getting engaged? Generally people wait 6 months to a year, depending what kind of wedding you want. Getting married is a big deal and a true commitment to the other person. And it involves giving up some things, like your space, how you sleep, sharing household responsibilities and finances, all this should be discussed beforehand, maybe time alone to recharge…depending on your personality.
For me that would depend on how long I knew him before we got engaged. If we dated or were boyfriend and girlfriend for a year or more prior to to engagement Then my My engagement would probable be a year or less. All in all just know your partner fairly well. Don’t rush into anything maybe even live with him for 6 months to a year. That way you will really be able to know how he acts under stress how he acts when he is pissed off. Is he sloppy or is he neat and clean. You can learn so much about a person by living with them.
