If you have a freezer that has the capability of going below zero Fahrenheit, which is commonly called deep freeze, You can keep food frozen indefinitely. These are large and expensive to build and are typically walk-in freezers. I’m not about to start promoting stale food though, but recently (February) I had pulled out some canned beef, cooked and ate it, and I’m here kicking fine. When I checked the container, it dated back to 2018.
It actually does go bad. Freezing foods slows down bacteria growth. Chemicals react in a similar way in colder temperatures, slowing down activity. I think it might be the same reason it slows down bacteria growth. It definitely doesn’t kill bacteria. While you may want to leave your frozen foods frozen for a long time, it is imperative to know that by the time a food item is frozen for too long, it loses its nutritional value.
