The moment you start noticing anything not normal in your baby, approach your doctor. Most times, we already know what is wrong in our mind but we just hope that the doctors prove us wrong. A mother’s instincts are mostly always right. The first symptoms can be seen from when the kid is 1year old or older. That’s a really early one though. Most parents notice their kids are autistic when they are even less than 1 year old. Some parents notice it but don’t want to believe it. The safest bet is to go to a doctor if you’re suspicious and if not then definetely check a doctor if the kid is acting weird. Sadly if the kid can’t talk at age 3/4, it must either be something like autism or maybe some kind of disability r damage.
Pay attention to delays in developmental milestones. Lack of eye contact is one main sign. Other signs are; lack of social interaction and responsiveness to social cues e.g. you imitating a simple action and the baby cannot attend to it or imitate it. Lack of joint attention — you pointing to something and baby cannot look in that direction. Another m is atypical behavior e.g. excessive crying, screaming etc. tantrum behavior, getting upset very easily. Every little thing may easily trigger these behaviors in the baby. Heightened sensitivity to sensory stimuli, such as with sound, smell, light, textures, tastes, certain environments, etc. all these signs vary, this is why it is known as autism spectrum disorders. The spectrum of autism range from mild to severe.
