It takes some time to recognize scammers, unless they are clumsy, which is beneficial for you to be able to Spot them. My advise is that if you are asking that question, something the other person has said, I.e; asked for money or brought up financial difficulties, has given you red flags and you already suspect him/her. Listen to your gut! It has served you well in the past and obviously has again.
Some scammers are very good at being charismatic and charming, but that is as much a part of their façade as when they take umbrage when called out!
Scammers usually want two things money or your personal information such as address, social security number in order to create credit cards or just to sell it on the deep web. Do not give out any information about where your location is state or city wise until you know it’s a real person your talking to. The fact that you don’t know if your being targeted or not. Most scammers try lie to you about their situation in life in order to get you to help them financially. You should Try to schedule video chat if they don’t want to or make up excuses they are trying to remain Anonymous. Also try to find that person on different social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. I personally always get the person to either video chat with Facebook Messenger or Snapchat. Best of luck to you.
