Do you ever wonder how people get stuck on alcohol when every single drop of it is bitter?
To each his own; Do I enjoy the taste of alcoholic beverages? Many of them, yes. Alcoholic drinks open up a huge range of flavor profiles that don’t always have non-alcoholic equivalents. If you believe variety in experience is the key to finding the best things in your life, why would you leave out alcohol?
Many people start off drinking sweeter alcoholic beverages that take generally familiar flavors and add alcohol to them.
As they become acclimated to the feeling of drinking alcohol, they may progress to increasingly less sweet alcoholic drinks like certain sweeter cocktails or mixed drinks.
From there, some will go on to develop a taste for wine, which is a complex combination of flavors and isn’t particularly sweet in most forms. Many will also try beer, which can be more bitter and yeasty. Some will go on to develop a taste for straight liquors like whisky, mescal, gin, brandy. These have a fiery initial taste, and are much richer flavors, often with smoky undertones and powerful, tannic finishes. Not for everyone.
